When my mother died, I was the age of fifteen. I knew whenever I did wrong, my mother still loved me, no matter what. And when I did the right thing, my mother was proud of me. But when she died, who would tell me that they love me and proud of me? At the age of fifteen, I had no one. From the day my mother died, her love and support only lived in my memory.
But I didn't know that I would meet Jesus. When I surrendered Jesus Christ and asked Him to forgive me of my sin and come into my heart, I was changed. That day I was given a gift that I could not pay for or earn; all I had to do is receive the present of the Holy Spirit. Listen to the words of John.
New International Version (NIV)27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. 28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me. “Come now; let us leave.
In the season of celebration of our Lord's birthday, we can never afford to purchase the gift He gave us. He was born to die. He arose from the grave, but before He left to go back with His Father in Heaven, He left us a comforting gift. He told the disciples, I am leaving so I can give you a gift. And this gift is not of the world. Only those who have accepted Jesus as their personal Savior can receive the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. We have the Holy Spirit living inside of us; the Holy Spirit fill us with the peace of Christ. Each day as a disciple of Christ, let us choose to surrender our flesh to the Holy Spirit. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcend all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."
As God Son, Jesus willingly submits to God the Father. On earth, Jesus went through all of the physical limitations of his humanity. Listen, Brothers and Sisters, the only power that Satan has is what God allows him to have. The gift of the Holy Spirit will enable us to live in peace. Paul says, let Christ's peace reign in our hearts. Our heart is the center of conflict because in there, our feelings and desire clash. We are feeling such as our fears and hope, distrust and trust, jealousy, and love. How can we deal with these constant conflicts and live as God wants? We must surrender to God. God has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit to pray one for another, be thankful, build on the relationship you have with Christ let the peace of mind transcend all of our understanding. The precious gift Jesus left us is the Holy Spirit. May God bless you this Holiday season.
